My First Deborah Lippmann!

Every time I try out a new brand of polish, I swear that it is my new favorite. Last night, I may have just found my VERY favorite! I picked up Stairway to Heaven by Deobrah Lippman because of a deal at beauty.com. If I made a purchase, I would receive DL Across The Universe for free. I needed a neutral glitter that would go with anything, so I ordered the Stairway to Heaven, but was SUPER excited about the free Across The Universe. Needless to say, I was very sad when I received notification that the ATU was out of stock and my freebie was not going to be...
Because of the bad experience, I put the Stairway to Heaven up on my shelf and kind of forgot about it. It was not what I REALLY wanted, so I was not going to play with it. Sometimes I really do feel like I am still 5 years old!
In the mean time, I have been waiting for the OPI Bond collection. I was only going to get two of the colors, but when I saw them in person, I had to get just a few more. Like 8 of them...
Anyway! Last night, with a little eenie, meenie, miney, mo, I chose to test out the Casino Royal. It it is named after one of my favorite moves after all.! It was my first choice from the begining, and it did not disappoint! It is an amazing plum/purple/burgandy cream that covered perfectly in two coats. As beautiful as it is though, I cant just wear one polish! So, I was off to find a glitter that would complement this lovely shade.
There, on my way too full nail polish shelf, was my never used, basically forgotten about Stairway To Heaven.
Meh...ok. I guessed it would work...
OMG! This stuff is AMAZING! Tons of irridescent rainbow glitter swimming in a clear base. It is like wearing little rainbows on my nails!
You can actually see the rainbows reflected on my hand!
The down side of all of this fabulousness is that I COULD NOT get a good picture of it. The best ones are the blurry pictures that really show off the sparkle.
Oh well, I guess this means that I will just have to try this manicure again...SOON!

That's a Winner!

I have a BASEBALL themed manicure to show off tonight! With the Cardinals in the playoffs and doing SO well, I decided to use the team colors as an inspiration for an indie polish of my very own! For the first round (we will call it the Day Game Mani), I used OPI Alpine Snow as a base, then my very own Flash Your Tips Birds on the Bat on top!

I liked the way this looked, but felt the Birds on the Bat needed something...MORE GLITTER! So, back to the lab for a new batch...
Next, I decided to do a Night Game Mani.
This is Birds on the Bat (with MORE GLITTER) over Maybelline's Impeccable Greys.
Now this is more like it. Lots of glitter, and I love the way it looks over the darker color base.
So, the Cardinals are winning, Birds on the Bat is a success, and my nails look great! It is a good day!

Next on the blog, I will be showing off my blog giveaway wins! Stay tuned!

Pinks Please!

If you have somehow missed it, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is the month when it seems that the whole world has turned pink! Due to the loss and suffering of some good friends, this month holds a special place in my heart. And well, pink IS my favotite color! So, when OPI releases their BCA nail polish, I get pretty excited. It is PINK, it is SPARKLY, and it is for a good CAUSE! What more can I ask for?
Unfortunately, this time, I was not too impressed. The duo is a very pretty pale pink and a nice sparkly glitter. The both look amazing in the bottle. The pink, I Think In Pink,  is very pale. It took three coats just for it to have any opacity at all. It is a pretty color, just a little too subtle for my taste.

So, I did some layering with You Glitter Be Good To Me. This definitely helped. This polish has great coverage and tons of glitter! It contains a nice medium sized bright pink hex glitter, and small pink/gold glitter
But it still needed something...
So I added another layer of I Think In Pink over the glitter. It makes a nice glitter sandwich and finally achieved the opacity and beautiful pink color I was looking for!
 Finally!

OPI You Glitter Be Good To Me

OPI I Think In Pink

Even though I am not CRAZY about either of these colors on their own, I think they will be great for mixing up with some different colors. One plus, I got a cute little OPI bag for buying the set. And of course, it is PINK!

THIS is Halloween!

After being so pleased with my first bottle of Dollish Polish (Whats This, Whats That?), I was very excited to try This is Halloween.  I wanted this one to be very Halloweenie, so I started with two coats of Sinful Colors Courtney Orange. Then came ONE coat of This is Halloween.

This polish is just amazing. It had TONS of glitter and covers so well. I was initially disappointed that all of the gilitter is very small flecks, but I got over that quickly. I think it just adds to the beauty here. With green, black, gold and orange flecks, it really defines Halloween. Next I want to try this over a brown. Maybe OPI Wooden Shoe Like to Know!

Whats This? Whats That?

I was beside myself with my excitement when the mailman delivered Nail Mail yesterday! He had my first two bottles of Dollish Polish!  I had watched for the restocks, and spent hours refreshing the website just to get my hands (or nails) on these colors. These are also my first bottles of indie polish EVER! Needless to say, my expectations were HIGH! I had built these up to be the Most AMaziNG nail polishes EVER! I dont know about 'most amazing ever', but they are pretty fabulous....

It took me a while to decide what to wear under the Whats This? Whats That?. I did not want a really dark color, because I thought it would draw attention away from the glitter colors. Finally, I decided on OPI A Grape Fit. So two coats of this to start with, then my first coat of Whats This? Whats That. I was disappointed in the amount of glitter coverage on the first coat.

The second coat was nice, but I like MORE glitter. A third coat was needed! In my opinion, the final results are spectacular! Great coverage with the three coats. I love the white bar giltter. It really pops!

I am still using my iphone camera for pics so the quality is not perfect, but this shows the colors very well. These are taken under a natural light lamp.
One random, not very important complaint about this bottle was that the brush is misshapen. It has a curve in it that makes it interesting to use. I may end up switching the brush out with a new one.

Hot Ticket

After all of the frustration with the Dollish Polish restocking that wasn't, I was able to snag two of the three colors I wanted the next morning. Soon, the mailman will deliver the bottles of Halloween awesomeness!

Now, on to other Nail Mail News!
While looking for something different in a jade color, I stumbled upon a 'new to me' brand of polish. The color looked close to what I wanted, but it was the bottle that sealed the deal! Hot Ticket nail polish has a picture of a pinup girl on it! Nail polish AND pinup girl in the same product?!? No way I could pass that up!

So, here is my Hot Ticket in Counterfeit manicure!
The first coat went on a little streaky and I was concerned, but the second coat made it fabulous! It is a very creamy polish and the color is amazing. It is more Kelly Green than the Jade I was looking for, but it is definitely one of my current favorites.
Now, after purchasing this color, I realized that it was probably an older color that is not available any longer. All I can say is, if you see it on ebay, buy it! Also, Hot Ticket polish may just get its own shelf on my nail polish shelf!
